Branding +Interior Design by Kim Kuhteubl is a book full of advice and information for getting visibility and building a business strategy for interior designers. The book is very interesting and very inspiring. It gives a lot of example in the real-life situation and how to solve it as well as some inspirational quotes from professional interior designers.


This book total contains 8 chapter, this book begins with Chapter 1 "Rules of Being Visible", Chapter 2 “Determine own Brand DNA”, Chapter 3 “Interior Planning”, Chapter 4” Client that fit”, Chapter 5” Build own online home”, Chapter 6“ The power of press”, Chapter 7” Audience building”, and last will be Chapter 8 “ Licensing, publishing & legalese.


When I first read and browse through the title and the summary of this book, I thought it will be a book full of nice and beautiful home design projects. But of course, there is some and very elegant and stylish projects. But the book is more than that. It's a good that take a fresh home designer by the hands to explain the business and what to do to be successful.


This book is more important than that because it is a book that reaches you as a human being. Which will get into your fears, your lack of confidence as a professional interior designer to make you understand that your differences are what makes you valuable. The main message that the author of the book is to asks you to stop hiding but express it yourself.


Furthermore, this book has a nice explanation about the brand, yours, and how to expose and sell it on the social media, website. Every single communication tools that will help you to reach your customers. It was really a great read because this book contains - interviews, quotes from the professional, and tip and guidance to boost your confidence and put you on the right pathway.


Even if you are not from the interior design industry, this book was a nice pep talk to people with a creative mind who often doubts their capacity.


In this part, I will talk a bit about the writer of this book. The author, Kim (Kim Kuhteubi is the full name) is an award-winning producer. She is a member of the Producer’s Guild of America. Since starting her company MeByDesign in 2011 she has worked with boutique interior designer firms and helped them to boost their brand to tell their stories and build their visibility. A lot of the firms or company she has worked with have become household names because of Kim and her sage advice.


The important key point that Kim talks and point out about is the importance of telling your story from a distinct point of view which is directed at the clients you wish to attract. That is what we need all need to know as an interior designer or another designer in other industry. To have ideal clients it would be much easier for us.


This book also includes a candid or truthful conversation with industry powerhouses of design leaders such as Barbara Barry, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Kelly Hoppen and many others. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
