Indesign: The Event
Indesign: The Event has been held annually in design centres across the Asia Pacific for over a decade. In every city, Indesign: The Event is distinguished by a coming together of boutique commercial design houses, international and regional, and leading creative figures from the architecture and design industry. Inspired by the idea that a design event should itself be highly designed, Indesign: The Event is immersive, curated and experiential.
Singapore Indesign (SGID) will be offering architects, interior designers, specifiers, industry professionals, students and designer hunters a one-of-a-kind opportunity to engage and connect with the industry. Easy to visit and travel by foot, showrooms will be presenting collaborations and installations complete with sensory delights, transforming each space into an area for the telling of stories, not just the showing off of brands.
My friends and I have sign up and join the Indesign: The Event 2016, October 9. We did participate in few design conversation that allow us to have the opportunity to ask and interactive with the speakers questions. The following is the design conversation that we participated.
"Design Conversation: Lighting Today and Tomorrow"
The first conversation we join is Lighting Today & Tomorrw. The conversation is about advancements continue to be made in digital and material technologies, a great amount of potential opens up in terms of how we might interact with lighting, and how lighting might interact with space and architectural form. But before we fully grasp those opportunities, it is worth reflecting on how we currently design and respond to lighting environments, and how we might capitalize on the almost subconscious responses that we have to light.
There will be a temporary lighting installation by Kreon. Kreon has been developing and producing architectural interior lighting and metal ceiling systems with clear visualization of the company's philosophy of purity and simplicity.
"Design Conversation: What is Southeast Asian Design?"
The second conversation we join is Southeast Asian Design. As I am from Southeast Asia, I think it will be very interesting and important to know. This session will discuss the opportunities and challenges being faced and overcome by some of Southeast Asia's leading furniture/product designers – in terms of identity and meaning, manufacturing capabilities, supply chain and connection to markets. They will share their thoughts on how and why design has evolved in this region, from traditional or vernacular forms to present-day directions.
"Design Conversations: Future-Proofing our City for Senior Living"
The third conversation Ageing is a multi-faceted issue that touches on many areas – health (physical and mental) and healthcare, social and familial interaction, architecture and design, and financial and economic factors. How well are architects and designers able to respond to this diverse set of considerations when conceptualizing and implementing age-sensitive environments? As the needs and desires of seniors evolve, how can our built environment keep up with the demands placed on it?
We also did visit to the showrooms with existing installation: sunbrella, laminates pavilion and others. Through this exhibition we can to talk to the professional and gain knowledge from the professional. It definitely will help me in my future job and project. I am glad to attend this events.
This year, Indesign: The Event will return to Singapore at 7 October of 2017. For more information and updated on this upcoming events, you can visit to their website at http://www.indesigntheevent.com/singapore/about/.
